Idea decided

I went with the idea on modern society and presume that the other idea might cross paths later on in my project. I related modern society to a colony of ants, how we all buzz about throughout our whole lives doing work and getting things done, I also liked the fact that we are both ruled , us being under control of our government and the ants under control of  the queen. Both do hard labour for our rulers. I also catagorised religion, law and war with our government as they all have so much followers and power over us. I wanted to illustrate some the the problems of modern society but bring the ants into them along the way. I think some visually interesting pieces could be made with the idea of ants and there being thousands of something together at once.

I ordered an ant farm which has arrived but im still waiting on the ants. I hope they're behaviour will inspire some ideas. I plan to observe and record their tunnels as they are building them and perhaps make patterns from theirs. I noticed some other similarities between humans and ants such as we are both social creatures who aim to manipulate our environment, we both wage wars and battle with toxic chemicals, we both practise slavery and some other little connections.

Ideas

I did a lot of brainstorming and came out with two ideas i'd be happy to use for my Movement and motion assignment. The basis of the first idea is that fact that we are all just chemical reactions constantly reacting both violently and most subtley. I was thinking that ever since the big bang that created our universe elements and chemicals have been mixing,colliding and reacting and essentially that's what lead us humans to live these billions of years later. And that that is all we are, chemical reactions. I like this idea because I have an interest in science and this sort of stuff and I imagine I could have great fun with paint on this subject with explosive colours and trying to express these chemical reactions that we don't see.

My other idea was on the rushing of modern day society, how we work our whole lives, conforming to the norm of going to school so you can go to college , going to college so you can get a job, work hard so you can get a higher position and more money and then before you know it life is over..i wonder was life really well spent?  With this idea i hope to visit the major problems with modern society such as media manipulation, dishonesty of governments and the complacency of the public, propagande,  ignorance and arogance of average people and the wealthy, the destruction of our planet, and so on...
